Up for sale, a 1979 Dean ML Standard, honestly played and in perfect working order, outfitted with the original pair of Dimarzio Super Distortion humbuckers and complete with its original hardshell case. A genuine vintage USA-made Dean model crafted at the original Evanston, IL factory, this ML features a bound maple top, mahogany body, and mahogany neck capped with an ebony fretboard. At 9lbs 2oz, this guitar offers plenty of natural sustain and heft, with the treble articulation and dynamic responsiveness of its tonewood complement. Retaining its original pair of Dimarzio Super Distortion humbuckers with zebra bobbins, the ML is engineered for high gain, offering thick, boosted mids, big lows and fat highs. The Super Distortion's ceramic magnet design and 14k output yield a tone that's authoritative and rich, distinctive in each position on the three-way switch.
This ML Standard has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, shred-ready low action and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has the substance of a'50s Gibson carve, yet with the subtle V shape linked to early Deans, offering robust shoulders in every register and measuring. 885 deep at the 1st fret and. The bound ebony fretboard has abalone dot inlay, lightly rolled binding edges, and original medium jumbo fretwire.
The frets are in excellent shape with well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear on frets 1-7. The neck does exhibit a headstock repair, professionally executed and oversprayed with gloss nitro lacquer to be nigh invisible both to the eye and undetectable to the palm while fretting. All the electronics work as intended, with the two Super Distortion pickups wired to the original harness with Dimarzio 500k pots and visible date codes from the 51st week of 1978.
Hardware includes a replacement Tune-o-matic bridge with brass saddles and the original string-through V tailpiece and jack plate.
